Recently the Egyptian Trademark Office (ETMO) issued its verdict in accepting the opposition which was initiated by the Turkish company ITIMAT MAKINA SANAYI VE TICARET ANONIM SIRKETI, owner of trademark "itimat" in class 11, against a local company in Egypt called "Sami Labib Rizk (Tower SMC Company)" which has filed an identical trademark application in the same class.

The ETMO, based on the prior use and registration of the opposer, decided to accept the opposition since the registration of itimat by the local company will confusion the public, lead to unfair competition as well as ITIMAT MAKINA SANAYI VE TICARET has the right in the mark since it constitutes part of its trading name.
