We have been informed that the Trademark Office in Mexico (IMPI – Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial) no longer requests to submit a Power of Attorney when filing a new trademark application.

However, for renewal of trademarks, a power of attorney is only required in the case of change of attorney. While for assignments and recordal of changes, it is required to submit a power of attorney granted by the assignee or the new company.
